Acme Manager Takes Down Thief; Vandals Spoil Swimming Pool: Crime Blotter

Bicycle burglary

Three Raleigh mountain bikes, valued at $1,300, were stolen from a woman's garage located in the 300 block of Farrell Street SE on July 23, according to a North Canton police report. 

Officers are investigating. 

Everything but the kitchen sink


On July 18, an unknown number of vandals hurled furniture, a fire pit, beer cans, two cement blocks and poured chemicals into a resident's swimming pool, located in the 400 block of Chappel Hill Drive. 

The lining of the pool was also ripped, bringing the total damage to $5,500. 

Police are investigating. 

T-bone felony

Kevin E. Sprankle, 40, of Canton, was arrested on July 19 after trying to steal three Porterhouses and a T-bone steak from Acme. 

According to the police report, Sprankle fought with and was subdued by a store manager who stopped the alleged thief in the parking lot. 

Officers arrived and charged Sprankle with robbery—use of force against another, a third-degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a first-degree misdemeanor.
