On April 27 from 10am to 2pm, the Stark County Anti-Drug Coalition, a program of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County, in partnership with the Stark County Police Chief's Association and the local DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) are again teaming up to host a spring drug take back event in 16 locations country-wide. Once again, North Canton Police Chief Stephan Wilder has graciously holding the take back at the North Canton Police Station.
While the intent is to rid homes of dangerous opiates, any and all drugs are accepted including creams, liquids, pet meds, etc. The DTBD has a "no questions asked" policy, so even illegal drugs are accepted during this event only. Once received, the drugs are boxed, measured and taken to a foundry in Cleveland for incineration in an eco-friendly manner.
Becuase of this outstanding partnership, well over 10 tons of drugs have been taken in over five take back days hosted in the past, more than all of the other participating communities in Northeastern Ohio combined.
