It will be “off with your head,” if you forget that February 1 is another First Friday celebration in the Canton Arts District. Themed, Queen of HeARTS, the celebration actually begins a bit up north, at The Cultural Center for the Arts, where the Canton Museum of Art hosts a HeART’s Desire event beginning at 5:30 p.m. a wine/cheese reception with About magazine and following up with artists’ demos and sales until 8:30 p.m.
Pick up a treat for your special someone at the downtown shops and galleries including Lynda Tuttle’s and Translations, featuring new exhibits, and heart-stopping sales at 2nd April Gallery and Annex, The Thirteenth Floor, the Hub and MOLA. Chocolate demonstrations (and samples) will be on tap at The Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, while artist Douglas Charles, will have his exhibit, “Heart of the Ocean,” on the walls of the Canton Club. Contemporary artist Katie Ballas will be featured at Julz while Carpe Diem welcomes massage therapist Stephanie Moyer, who will work out the kinks for free, while you shop the jewelry showcase, also at this location.
The Palace Theatre will show Groundhog Day at 7:30 p.m., in between another episode of the Social Anxiety Hour, at the Parallax Theatre Ensemble, on Cleveland, next to Henry’s Popcorn. AmVets will offer a special Queen of Hearts menu. The Aultman WOW van will make Valentine card holders with the kids, and Take 3 Band will be live at Arcadia from 7-10 p.m. Other music, including Dance Night! at the Auricle will tantalize your ticker, all evening long.
