In an effort to provide the community, as well as their students and employees, a sustainable option to disposing of electronics refuse, Kent State University at Stark and Stark State College are jointly offering a free* Electronics Waste Recycling Drop-off Site on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Kent State Stark barn, located off of Loop Road near the Main Hall building, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township.
According to DoSomething.org, electronic waste represents 2 percent of America's trash in landfills, but it equals 70 percent of overall toxic waste. The extreme amount of lead in electronics alone causes damage in the central and peripheral nervous systems, the blood and the kidneys.
Kent State Stark and Stark State have partnered with Midwest Comtel and Gen-Tek, local recycling companies that will responsibly recycle, refurbish or reuse the electronic items dropped off during the event.

*There is no charge to drop off items, except for the minimal charge of $3 for CRT monitors up to 17 inches and $5 for televisions and CRT monitors larger than 17 inches.
