The Canton Area League of Women Voters (LWV) will observe National Womenβs History Month with a series of public programs with the theme βWomen Make a Difference.βΒ
On March 16, a panel comprised of retired 5th District Court of Appeals Judge Julie Edwards, former Stark County Commissioner Jane Vignos, and Marilyn Thomas-Jones, Senior Program Officer at Stark Community Foundation and Philanthropy Consultant, will review their careers and contributions to local history. The 10 a.m. event will be at the Jackson Branch of the Stark County District Library, 7487 Fulton Drive NW. Refreshments will be served.
March 19 is the Ohio League of Women Voters annual Statehouse Day, when LWV members and friends visit the home of the Ohio General Assembly for discussions of current issues and lunch. Screening of the classic suffrage film, βIron Jawed Angelsβ will be April 26, 27, and 28 at the Massillon Lions Lincoln Theater, 156 Lincoln Way. The cost of the screening is being underwritten by Sunshines Brighter Natural Foods,Β 5569 Fulton Drive NW, in Jackson Township.Β
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan voter information organization. In addition to observing Womenβs History Month, the Canton Area LWV holds informational sessions on ballot issues and candidates and publishes an annual Votersβ Guide prior to each November General Election.
