Nominate a Volunteer for United Way Gold Key, DeHoff Young Philanthropist Awards by Feb. 14

United Way of Greater Stark County is pleased to announce nominations are currently being accepted online for the DeHoff Emerging Young Philanthropist award and Gold Key service award. Nominations are due Feb. 14 by 5:00 p.m.

To nominate a candidate for the DeHoff service award, please review the requirements and submit the application form located at http://www.uwstark.org/webform/dehoff-emerging-philanthropist-award. To nominate a volunteer for the Gold Key award, please submit the online application form located at http://www.uwstark.org/webform/united-way-gold-key-service-award. Nominators may also access online forms at http://www.uwstark.org, then select either DeHoff or Gold Key under the Volunteer menu.

United Way's DeHoff Emerging Young Philanthropist award recognizes a Stark County resident age 45 and under who is passionate about philanthropic endeavors centered around United Way’s three building blocks for a good life–Education, Family & Financial Stability and Health & Basic Needs. Named on behalf of longtime United Way volunteers Bob and Linda DeHoff, 2013 will be the third year this award will be presented. The DeHoff family will award a $5,000 donation to the winner's charity of choice.

The DeHoffs served as United Way's Alexis de Tocqueville Society co-chairs for more than a decade, assisting in reaching donors who contribute gifts of $10,000 or more. During the years they served as ADT co-chairs, the DeHoffs led efforts to raise more than $11.6 million and as United Way of Central Stark County annual campaign chairs in 1999, the DeHoffs raised more than $6.3 million to benefit residents of Stark County. More than $17.9 million has been raised by the DeHoffs during the past 12 years.

The United Way Gold Key service award, established in 1961, recognizes community leaders and volunteers who have continually demonstrated the highest degree of personal dedication and service in a voluntary capacity to the United Way and/or United Way Community Partner agencies. Nominee applications will be evaluated based on scope of responsibility, motivation, impact on the community, attitude, commitment and determination. Eligible nominees should have performed volunteer activities or contributed to agencies in Stark County. This year will mark the 52nd year the honor has been awarded.

Both awards will be presented on Mar. 21 at United Way's annual meeting breakfast at Walsh University's Barrette Business Center.
