Obama campaign cooking in Benghazi stew

When I hear people make predictions about the upcoming election, the rosier their take on knocking Obama out of the White House the more nervous I am to hear the pronouncements of good fortune to come. And yet, I’m about to make the rosiest of possible predictions.

I predict that Obama is as good as cooked. And, this prediction is not based on his lack-luster performance during the debate last week.

As I see it, his campaign is stewing in the Benghazi Debacle that left four Americans, including our ambassador, dead. This story is gaining leverage on an almost daily basis and gained quite a bit more when the State Department stepped aside yesterday by declaring that, within 50 minutes after the tragic event started, in fact, when it was still ongoing, they knew it was a terrorist attack. And they shared that information with the administration.

 True, members of the liberal media are, for the most part, downplaying the story for all they’re worth. But, I believe, it has more power than even they can suppress.

Some, such as FOX’s Bill O’Reilly, think the Obama administration will throw UN Ambassador Susan Rice under the bus and, possibly, dodge the full impact of this figurative bullet. Frankly, O’Reilly is wrong. At this point, Rice is nothing more than cannon fodder against the wave of trouble heading Obama’s way on this issue.

To a degree, Rice is certainly culpable for the series of appearances she made on televised news programs several days after the attack. In those appearances, she insisted the terrorist attack was actually a spontaneous response to a ridiculous, and poorly made, anti-Muslim movie produced by some idiot in America. But, for reasonable journalists to stop the climb upwards at Rice, when searching for the responsible party, is as ludicrous as Rice’s assertion.

The question that O’Reilly should ask is, “How’s the investigation going in regards to Rice’s rogue actions on the news the other day?” Because, if Rice is responsible, someone in the administration had to be screaming, “What the heck does she think she’s doing?”

There is no such investigation because Rice’s actions were clearly sanctioned by someone higher than her. And, someone higher than our ambassador to the UN is someone with a pretty darn high pay grade – someone high enough to leave very little wiggle room for Obama.

This will steamroll over the killing of Osama Bin Laden until it is nothing more than a side note to the otherwise failed foreign policy initiatives of this president. In fact, as more and more Americans come to terms with the reality that the Benghazi Debacle has little to do with Mideast initiatives and everything to do with domestic politics, even if Dick Morris is right and Obama strikes an apparent nuclear deal with Iran before Nov. 6, it will not be enough to save Obama.

Even a deal Iran would face greater skepticism from a public that saw how politicized Obama’s foreign policy was in regards to the recent violence in the Mideast. And, if the public is beginning to turn on Obama, wait until you see what the media does to their one-time idol.

Obama is the media’s horse in this race and the last. Allowing himself to be caught as red handed as this is unforgivable. Even the vitriol from the right will pale in comparison to what the liberal media has in store for Obama. And that is my second prediction; Obama is about to lose his most essential supporters – members of the media.

The media has demonstrated an incredible willingness to trade credibility for the opportunity to see their horse win. But, even for the liberal media, there is a limit. As this story continues to develop, if the media doesn’t come out from behind its semantic claim of impartiality, it won’t have enough credibility left to earn a spot on a updated version of The Gong Show. And they know it or, at least, that realization will soon sink in.

For another twist on this story, consider that the next debate between Obama and Romney will discuss foreign affairs. It all goes to show that style will only take you so far. At some point, it all comes down to substance. And a foreign policy focused on election results is absolutely devoid of substance and downright dangerous.
