“Read across America” Annual Book Drive Extended to April 12 - Maid Brigade of Northeast Ohio Continues to Collect Children’s Books

Maid Brigade of Northeastern Ohio is collecting new and gently used children’s books in honor of Read Across America Day to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital & TIQVAH Hands of Hope right here in our community. This is the third year Maid Brigade of Northeast Ohio has participated in the book drive.
“To make our Book Drive a successful event we need your help! Participating is easy, on the day of your next cleaning simply leave your books out on the kitchen counter and our teams will pick them up,” said Margie Toombs, co-owner of Maid Brigade of Northeast Ohio. “Additionally, many local merchants, including the Canton Charge and The Civic Center have agreed to receive your donations of new and gently used books.”
The book drive, which was to end March 31st, has been extended through April 12, 2013. Fans of the Canton Charge also receive ticket vouchers for the remaining Canton Charge games at any of the locations as well when they donate.

As a national franchisor, Maid Brigade stands for more than just a place of business, but rather a member of the local community. As such, this national book drive effort is an opportunity for each Maid Brigade franchise location to connect with customers and community members and provide books to help bring a love of reading to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
According to the National Education Association (NEA), children who read at home have a higher success rate in school and develop stronger reading skills. This fact prompted the NEA to launch its Read Across America program in 1998. Each year millions of children and adults participate and benefit from this annual event.
For more information about how you can participate in this year’s Read Across America event, visit www.maidbrigade.com/book-drive or call 330-453-6000 to schedule a pick up. Those who are already customers of Maid Brigade of Northeast Ohio can leave their donation in their home for pick up during their normally scheduled cleaning between now and April 12, 2013.
