Stark Community Foundation Sets Record Year in 2012

Stark Community Foundation received more donations in 2012 than in any other year in the Foundation’s 50-year history. During the previous twelve months, donors contributed more than 17.2 million dollars to new and existing funds.

“Stark Community Foundation has a history of wise investment strategies which are guided by industry professionals and overseen by local stakeholders from the greater Stark County community,” said 2012 Foundation Board Chairman Bob DeHoff. “We take the burden from individuals, companies and organizations that do not have the desire or the expertise to manage their funds.”

Giving history was also made in 2012 during the first-ever matching fund initiative – give BIG Stark County, leveraging more than 1 million dollars that will ultimately benefit many local organizations. Another first in 2012 for the Foundation was the creation of the largest fund in its history, the ArtsinStark Foundation Endowment Fund, bringing the Foundation’s total assets to $181 million.

Key 2012 Highlights:

• As of December 31, 2012, the Foundation assets totaled more than 181 million.
• The Foundation and its donors made grants totaling $6.5 million to support nearly 500 nonprofit organizations in a wide range of fields, including the arts and humanities, health, education, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and social services.
• Since 1963, the Foundation and its donors have granted more than $111 million back to the community.
• The Foundation ranks in the top ten percent of all community foundations in the United States.
