
The Stark County Park Districtβs annual Family Fall Fest will be Sat., Oct. 20 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Petros Lake Park, 3275 Perry Drive SW, in Perry Township across from
the Timken Faircrest Plant. Costumes are encouraged for this free, non-scary seasonal event designed for families with children 12 and under. Children are
encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to this yearβs event; Stark Parksβ wildlife rehabilitation staff will give the animal a βcheck-upβ and
βcertificate of good health.β
The popular
Creatures of the Night hike will take place from 4:30-8 p.m. Young guests will
learn about nocturnal animals like owls, spiders, bats and frogs at each treat
stop in the woods. Children should bring their own candy bucket or bag.
Hayrides through
the park will be provided by Nickajack Farms and Stark Parks, and guestsΒ will enjoy a pumpkin-painting craft and
old-fashioned games including sack races, pumpkin bowling, bean bag toss, egg
and spoon race, and a stick-horse rodeo. Imaginarium will provide a display of
fossils.

Last but
not least, professional artists Amanda Destro and Marjorie Funk will be on hand
amazing guests with their beautiful face-painting. Hot dogs, hot chocolate, and
other beverages will be available for sale, and guests can warm up by a campfire.
This free family event has become one of the largest
events of the year for Stark Parks, with many families returning year after
year to enjoy the hayrides, face painting, and other activities. Kids, of
course, love getting a little candy; parents like knowing their youngsters are
not going to be scared and will have fun playing games they used play!
