Walsh University Hosts Constitution Day Lecture, 'Abraham Lincoln and Civil Liberties,' Sept. 17

In recognition of National Constitution Day, Walsh University’s Phi Alpha Theta, the Honor Society of History, will host Dr. John T. Hubbell, professor emeritus of history, Kent State University, and the former editor for thirty-five years of the Civil War Journal. He will present "Abraham Lincoln and Civil Liberties" at 7 pm in Betzler Auditorium. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Constitution Day, also known as Citizenship Day, is observed September 17 and is recognized as a federal holiday. Established by law in 2004, it celebrates the ratification of the United States Constitution, and honors all those who have become citizens either through naturalization or by coming of age.

The topic choice this year is based on the recognition that Ohio is committed to commemoration the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War (1861-65). See http://www.ohiocivilwar150.org/
