Borders on The Strip to Shutter Its Doors
General Manager Steve Smith said he's unsure when The Strip location will close, but he's thankful for the community support he's seen so far

Borders Group is liquidating its remaining stores, and with them goes its , which General Manager Steve Smith says has been "one of the biggest and the best stores in the company because of its customers."
"We've had people coming in with tears in their eyes and hoping it's not true," Smith told North Canton Patch this morning.
Borders Group will liquidate its remaining stores as early as Friday, according to the Huffington Post via Reuters, but Smith said he doesn't know exactly when The Strip location will close its doors for good.

He said he likely will know more next week.
"Right now we've got no dates," he said. "Everything is still up in the air. All we know for sure is the company is liquidating."

The company had declared bankruptcy and closed 200 of its 642 stores nationwide earlier this year.
The Strip location sold magazines, books, CDs and offered customers coffee drinks through Seattle's Best Coffee House. It employed about 50 people.
Smith said the loss of this Borders store will be felt throughout the community.
"It's going to be hard on the community, and the folks counted on us as much as we counted on them."
