Did you know the Stark County District Library is More Than Books? National Library Week is comingβitβs the week of April 14. Weβll celebrate with make it-take it crafts for children and teens each day, and Celebrity Story Times for families featuring local Stark County celebrities. Additionally, there will be a contest to win one of four great prizes during our baseball-themed celebration by learning more about some of the great services and resources offered every day at Stark County District Library.

Members of the Canton Symphony return to several branches of Stark County District Library for Listen at the Library family story times. Listen at the Library features special musically-enhanced versions of your childrenβs favorite stories. Itβs a wonderful experience for families, and the symphony musicians really bring the stories delightfully to life.Β Two are scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, at East Canton and DeHoff Memorial Branches. Teens can take advantage of the proverbial April showers on Thursday, April 11 at Madge Youtz Branch. At April Flowers, theyβll get to paint and decorate a container, and plant flowers in it to enjoy all spring and summer.
Who will win the Battle of the Brains? On Thursday, April 11, Lake Community Branch librarians will go head-to-head with National Honor Society Members from grades 6-12 to find out whose brains are smartest without Googling for answers.

At North Branch on Saturday, April 13, teens can explore the world of duct tape fashion at Rain, Rain, Go Away. Beat the April showers with some duct tape boots, or fashion some duct tape flip flops for summer wear.
Get helpful advice on paying for higher education on Saturday, April 13 at the Plain Community Branch program, Strategies for Paying for College. This program, presented by Charter One Bank, will help you evaluate your education goals, andΒ calculate the projected costs. You'll also get advice on the various options available for funding.
Christa Scarbrough of the Ohio Farm Bureau will visit Main Library on Saturday, April 13 to present, Raising Backyard Chickens, the second program of the Main Library Gardening Series. Learn the basics of raising chickens in your own backyard for fresh eggs, for bug control, as pets, as producers of fertilizer, and other beneficial uses.
Perry Sippo Branch will be the site of a Poetry Party on Monday, April 15. Join us for an inspirational and entertaining introduction to writing your own poems.
Adults can enjoy an evening of creating great crafts from old books at Altered Book Crafts on Monday, April, 15 at East Canton Branch. Weβll provide the material and the instruction, all you need to bring is your creativity. You can make purses, envelopes, and much more to bring new life to an old book.
Teens can get in on the altered book craft fun on Thursdays in April at Main Library. Weβll up-cycle used books to create unique art journals using a variety of media at Altered Book Art Journal.
National Library Week Celebrity Story Times for families are coming to Stark County District Library beginning Monday, April 15 at Jackson Township and Sandy Valley Branch.
