Doug Foltz Takes Over as North Canton City Council Vice President
Council members approved Foltz at their meeting Monday night, while they still look for someone to fill a vacant seat

He may not have expected his nomination to become North Canton City Council vice president, but Councilman Doug Foltz accepted the role Monday night.
Councilwoman Marcia Kiesling nominated Foltz and he was accepted without opposition from council members.
The departure of , leaves one empty seat on council. Revoldt will take a job with the Ohio Department of Development. Vice President Jon Snyder has taken over as president.
Resident Suzanne Burnett addressed council and said she was pleased with Foltzβs new role.
βI think it was high time for him to become a more important person,β she told them.
After the meeting, Burnett said she had taught Foltz at , where she was employed Β as an English teacher for 25 years.
βDoug was my councilman as well as being my student,β she said. βIβve always admired him. I think heβs a fine young man.β
Councilman Pat DeOrio was absent from the meeting, and council had not discussed the possibility of Foltz taking on the role of vice president at previous meetings. Snyder said DeOrioΒ approved of the nomination.
βIf we choose to open this back up and reappoint, thatβs OK too,β Foltz said.
Snyder said 10 people have applied for the vacant council seat so far, and he expects more to come in this week. In-person interviews with council will begin Monday, he said.
Snyder said heβd like to have a new council member in place by April 28.
Council meets again at 7 p.m. Monday in North Canton City Hall, 145 N. Main St.
