Proceeds from gala to benefit the Legends Landing, a planned residence at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village

Canton is known as the birthplace of the National Football League, and now fans will have the chance to celebrate one of the sport’s greatest annual events in the city where the game got its start.

The 2016 Draft Day Experience will take place on Thursday, April 28, beginning at 7:30 at the McKinley Grand Hotel in Canton. Guests will watch the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft unfold live on projection screens in the hotel ballroom, while enjoying food, beverages, trivia contests, memorabilia auctions and more.

Former NFL stars scheduled to appear include Cleveland Browns alumni Don Cockroft, Hanford Dixon, Felix Wright and Anthony Griggs. Other NFL alumni scheduled to attend include Jeff Hastings (Detroit/Pittsburgh), Marv Kellum (Pittsburgh/St. Louis) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dave Robinson (Green Bay). Several former players will participate in a Roundtable Discussion and analysis of the early draft picks with moderator Kenny Roda of WHBC-AM in Canton.

“Canton and pro football are forever linked, and the Draft Day Experience provides us with the chance to celebrate the game and our city’s important role in its history,” said Dave Kirven, president of the East Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council. “Our hope is that the enthusiasm and support for this event will demonstrate to the NFL that Canton would make a great location for the actual Draft to be held at some point in the future.”

Corporate sponsorships are available and include a pre-event VIP Reception with NFL alumni and other special guests.
