Driver Flies Through Red Light, Almost Strikes Police Cruiser: Police Blotter

Police find motorists with drugs after traffic stops

Police charged a couple men with drug offenses after finding drugs on them during two separate traffic stops recently. 

The first was a traffic violation in the 500 block of Fair Oaks Ave. SW about 9 p.m. March 8 in which a 20-year-old North Canton man was found with pill bottles and baggies containing a white substance. The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

The second involved a 20-year-old North Canton man who drove through a red light and almost hit a police cruiser about 8 p.m. Wednesday. The officer wrote in his report that when he walked up to the man's car he could smell marijuana. The officer found drugs during a search of the car (the report listed a hand-rolled cigarette). The man was charged with possession of marijuana and a red light violation, both minor misdemeanors.

Student shows up to school drunk

principal called on when a 17-year-old student showed up at school drunk. The boy was charged with possession of an intoxicating liquor, a first-degree misdemeanor, and released to his mother.

Drunk, stumbling pedestrian arrested

Police arrested a 63-year-old North Canton man who was stumbling down the sidewalk "highly intoxicated" near the 600 block of Everhard Road SW about 9:50 p.m. March 4. The man was charged with disorderly conduct, a minor misdemeanor.

Bay window damaged by vandal

Someone broke out eight of 12 small windows of the bay window at a house in the 1300 block of Westfield Avenue SW between 8:30 a.m. March 5 and 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Estimated damage is about $400.

Safe pried open, nothing stolen

A resident in the 1100 block of Linwood Avenue SW told police someone broke into the house and pried open a safe but didn't take any items. The person still caused about $80 in damages. The break-in occurred between midnight March 8 and 3 p.m. March 9.

Driver strikes mailboxes on joyride through two lawns

Someone drove through two driveways in the 2000 block of Kingscote Circle NE about 7:50 p.m. March 5. The driver drove into both residents' mailboxes and then left by driving down one resident's driveway. They estimated damages at about $230.

Catalytic converter stolen from car for sale at Hofstetler Auto Sales

A catalytic converter was stolen from a car for sale at Hofstetler Auto Sales, 1245 S. Main St., between 4 p.m. March 7 and 3:30 p.m. March 10. Estimated loss is $1,200.
