Girls on the Run Seeks New Program Hosts for Spring 2017
Bring Girls on the Run to your school or community center this spring. Applications will be accepted through January 15, 2017.
Girls on the Run is currently looking for new sites to host programming in Stark and Wayne County, Ohio. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that teaches key life skills to girls in 3rd through 8th grade through dynamic discussions and fun games that creatively integrate running.
Girls on the Run will be accepting new sites to host teams for the spring season and provide program opportunities to more girls through January 15, 2017. Site hosts include local schools, community centers, churches and hospitals. Each site must have a volunteer site liaison, a safe space for physical activity, and be able to provide both outdoor and indoor meeting locations.
At each site, volunteer coaches lead teams of 8-15 girls through research-based curricula that include lessons on confidence, treating others with care, dealing with peer pressure and contributing to the community. During the ten-week program, girls complete a community service project and become physically and emotionally prepared to participate in a celebratory 5k event.

This is more than just a running club—in fact, running is NOT required. Here’s what just a few of our Spring 2016 participants had to say about our program in our season-ending survey:
“One thing I learned at Girls on the Run is to always believe in yourself.” —Allison S.

About Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 nonprofit offering physical activity-based positive youth development programs for 3rd-5th grade girls (Girls on the Run) and 6th-8th grade girls (Heart & Sole). Participants develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults and make a meaningful contribution to community and society. Each session is led by trained volunteer coaches that guide and mentor the girls. The ten-week program concludes with all participants completing a celebratory 5k event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. Girls on the Run has served over 1.2 million girls since its inception in 1996.
