On our way out of town, we noticed athletic practices at the school field, YMCA open, merchants/restaurants open. Has a "Holiday" turned into let's shop, day off from work and/or business as usual? What happened to observing 4th of July, Memeorial Day, not to mention Easter or Christmas,etc-----their meaning lessens as our culture grows more shallow and less value oriented. Sad.
