Girls on the Run of Stark County is pleased to announce Second Sole as the presenting sponsor of the sixth annual Girls on the Run 5k Run/Walk, to be held on May 30, 2015 at Walsh University.

The GOTR 5k is the culminating event for nearly 700 girls who will have completed the 10-week Girls on the Run and Girls on Track programs offered throughout Stark County this spring. As the only all-female* 5k in the Ohio Challenge Series, the GOTR 5k is designed to allow young girls to see and experience the power of being female.

As part of the new partnership, Second Sole of Canton will also offer two opportunities for customers to round up their purchase to benefit Girls on the Run of Stark County Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24 and Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31.

As the major fundraiser for Girls on the Run of Stark County, the Girls on the Run 5k Run/Walk is open to women of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Featuring a competitive wave and a noncompetitive wave, it allows all participants to complete the 5k at their own pace—whether that’s walking, running, dancing, or skipping.

* Chris Henson, a Jackson Township GOTR dad who raised over $4,000 as part of GOTR Stark’s annual competitive fundraiser to be the only male to run the GOTR 5k, will join his daughters—SuperGirls Emma & Sarah—as their trusty sidekick, the SoleMale, at the GOTR 5k.
