McKinley-Massillon Food Fight Generates Hundreds of Thousands of Pounds of Food for the Needy
During this and the past five annual Food Fights the pups and tigers brought in nearly 116,000 pounds of food for the hungry.

CANTON, OH - The tigers returned the victory bell to Massillon with a 21 to 19 win over their archrival bulldogs, but both schools and their fans rang the bell for the hungry of Stark County.
The pre-game McKinley – Massillon Food Fight sponsored by WHBC and Mix 94.1 radio stations brought in a total of 31,516 pounds of groceries through food and monetary donations in the weeks before the big game.
McKinley fans captured honors in the fifth annual Food Fight bringing in 16,128 pounds of donations, but beating out Massillon fans by only 740 pounds in a close contest.
All donations in the McKinley – Massillon Food Fight went to Stark County Hunger Task Force and to be distributed through the organization’s network of more than 30 pantries throughout Stark County.

The McKinley High School received the traveling trophy (plaque) and bragging rights until the 2017 renewal of the rivalry. The winner is determined by the amount of food and monetary donations converted into pounds by officials from SCHTF.

Every dollar donated provides seven pounds of food for the hungry and gained a seven pound credit for the school of choice in the competition.
Representatives from the Stark County Hunger Task Force, WHBC and Mix 94.1 announced the total collections and the winning school from the field of Paul Brown Tiger Stadium during the game Saturday.
Food and monetary donation were collected at the schools; Stark County Hunger Task Force offices; WHBC / Mix 94.1 radio stations and during Food Fight final rallies Friday at Dunkin’ Donuts shops in Massillon at 309 Lincoln Way W and Canton at 325 Cleveland Ave.
