"North Canton Journeys to the World"

As part of the
Smithsonian exhibition, Journey Stories,
the North Canton Heritage Society and Walsh University will host a panel discussion
entitled β€œNorth Canton Journeys to the World” on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at
Walsh University’s Barrette Business and Community Center. The panel features
Dr. Judy Kreye, a nursing professor at Walsh University, Rev. Steve Stultz
Costello, from North Canton’s Faith United Methodist Church, and Kate Carlson,
a Walsh alum.Β  Dr. Douglas Palmer,
Walsh’s Director of Global Learning, will moderate.Β  Each person will tell his or her story about
how their journey shaped their lives after returning to North Canton.Β

Dr. Kreye traveled to
Tanzania last year to help start a nursing program.Β  Ms. Carlson attended Walsh University’s 8-week
Rome Experience as an undergraduate.Β
Reverend Costello is part of his church’s mission to Liberia.Β  All have experienced life changes as a result
of their travels from North Canton to the world and back.

The event is part of the North Canton Heritage
Society’s exhibit Journey Stories, created
by the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street Program and sponsored by
the Ohio Humanities Council.Β  The
exhibition tells the story of where others have traveled, and allows visitors
to recall how their own family came to the United States, whether by ship or
jet plane. The exhibition opened Sept. 23 and will run through Oct. 31. Β To view Journey
Stories,
visit the Heritage Society at 185 Ream Ave. NW in North Canton,
across the street from the North Canton Public Library.
