North Canton May Raise Dogwood Swimming Pool Fees

City Council discusses doubling buddy-pass rates

Buddy passes may double in price for the upcoming summer season at North Canton’s Dogwood Swimming Pool.

North Canton City Council members discussed increasing the fee from $50 to $100 during a committee meeting Monday night.

Doug Foltz, chairman of the Park and Recreation Committee and Ward 1 council member, said the new buddy pass will save pool members, along with their friends and family, money in the long run. Instead of paying $8 each time a nonmember visits the pool with a member, the buddy pass will eliminate the daily rate.

“If a family uses the buddy pass at least 12 times this summer, it will pay for itself,” Foltz said, adding the pass can be used for relatives, a babysitter or friend and is not limited to one specific person.

For North Canton residents, a family of four membership will cost $160 with an additional $100 for the buddy pass. Single passes are $65 per person.

Nonresidents also will be charged $100 for the buddy pass and a membership fee of $400 for a family of four.

Council members will vote on the matter during their regular meeting 7 p.m. Monday in North Canton City Hall.

In other news, council members also bid farewell to Council President Daryl Revoldt, who submitted his resignation March 16 to take a job with the Ohio Department of Development. He has spent 24 years serving in various elected offices at the local, state and federal levels of government.

“He’s a great public servant,” North Canton Mayor David Held said. “I have a tremendous amount of a respect for him. We’re going to miss him.”
