North Canton Police Collect More Than 100 Pounds of Unwanted Prescriptions on Take-Back Day

The department took part in its second drug take-back day, collecting two boxes of prescription pills and two boxes of liquid medication

The take-back day, the second for North Canton, aimed to remove unwanted prescriptions from residents' homes. The police department and others across the country teamed with the Drug Enforcement Administration to gather the unwanted prescriptions.

  • 191 boxes of medications, which comes out toΒ 2,810 pounds
  • 304 pounds of recyclable plasticΒ pill containers Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β 
  • 119 pounds of needles

Last September, the county collected 751 pounds of medications, 223 pounds of plastic pill containers and 100 pounds of needles.

Drug Awareness and Prevention Inc. reported Northeast Ohio sites gathered 9,900 pounds of medication this year.
