Plans Move Ahead to Turn Trailer Homes Into Apartments on North Main

The North Canton Planning Commission met this week to look over a final site review plan for the new Northridge Apartment buildings

Plans are moving forward to create two two-story apartment buildings whereΒ the former Evergreen Mobile Home Park is on North Main Street.

The North Canton Planning Commission approved a final site plan for the new Northridge Apartments project this week and went voiced their questions to representatives from theΒ McKinley Development and GBC Design in Akron.

Residents in 20 trailers need to relocate to accommodate the project, and as of Tuesday night, all but two had confirmed when they would move out. John Walsh, a principal at GBC Design, said all should be relocated by the end of May and construction is expected to begin sometime in June.

Northridge Apartments will be constructed on 3.5 acresΒ and consist of 40 one-and two-bedroom units. Those units will have a full kitchen, laundry facility in the unit, a garage space as well as extra parking spaces around the buildings.

Bruce Bernhard, an engineering technician in the North CantonΒ Engineering Office, said the project needs final approval from Stark County Soil and Water Conservation District.
