Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties’ Main Event Fundraiser is on the Move

MASSILLON, Ohio – Save the Date for Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties’ 6th Annual Main Event Fundraiser “Put Hunger in Park!”

Join Meals on Wheels on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5:00-10:00pm at Hoover Park as it hosts its first ever food fest. “Put Hunger in Park” will have food and beer trucks, live entertainment, exciting contests for children and adults, and unlimited opportunities to learn more about Meals on Wheels. This event is free and open to the public.

“Our mission continues to be serving the community, and this event will celebrate the community’s support of our mission,” said Ted Watko, CEO of Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties. “We wanted to find a way to incorporate meals, wheels, and our supporters – and a food fest is the perfect fit. It is a genuine way for us to inform and connect with our developing audience and to say thank you to all those committed to ‘Putting Hunger in Park’ in our community.”

This event will replace the agency’s traditional Main Event Auction in November. Proceeds from the event will go directly towards the Meals on Wheels’ mission of providing its at-risk neighbors with nutritional support for better health, happiness, and independence.

Nancy Bundy is the 2017 Event Chair. Bundy has more than 25 years of experience planning local events and is known for her participation in Junior League and the American Heart Association’s Heart Ball. Meals on Wheels is honored to have her paving the way for this year’s new Main Event.

“I am really looking forward to doing something new for the agency,” said Nancy Bundy, event chair. “Meals on Wheels has a dedicated following, and we think this event will recognize that continued support while at the same time welcoming new community members who want to get involved.”
