North Canton Patch: How long have you had an interest in wine and beer?

Todd: I always liked craft beers. One day I went to dinner and I said, "Give me a big red wine," and from then on I loved big, red, dry wines. I was into dry wines and the American palette typically like sweet, but you have to open your mind and see what's out there.

North Canton Patch: What did you do before the Barrel Room?

Todd: I worked for Enterprise-Rent- A -Car for eight years. What a great experience that was, as well as a great company to work for. I wanted to open a wine and beer bar since I was 20 years old, but I never thought I would leave Enterprise. It was a sporadic leap of faith.

North Canton Patch: What do you think makes the Barrel Room unique?

Todd: The atmosphere. There's nothing like this. You get five-star service for an average price.

North Canton Patch: What do you think the biggest challenge is as a small-business owner?

Todd: I really would have to say just doing it. I believe that if you have something people want and you provide great customer service you can succeed.

North Canton Patch: What words of wisdom would you offer an aspiring business owner?

Todd: Never stop learning and give it everything you got and when you take care of your customers and employees you can make anything happen.

North Canton Patch: How would you describe the Barrel Room in a sentence or two?

Todd: A place you can come drink and relax with friends, family or a date. A high-end style of bar with a reasonable price range no matter if you want beer or wine.
