Red Carpet Gala ... A Party with a Mission!
The Junior League of Stark County Annual Gala set for February 28th at Walsh
CANTON, OH – The annual gala, benefitting The Junior League of Stark County, is the single biggest fundraising effort for the organization. “And, yes, it is also a fantastic party,” said Lora Harley, chair for this year’s event, “a party with a mission.”
“There is great food, great fun and your support of the event supports our mission—promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our communities,” she added.
The theme this year is old style, Hollywood glamour. It is, “A Red Carpet Gala,” Harley said. It will be at the Barrette Center at Walsh University. There will be a silent and live auction, and casino style gambling to round out the night. Tickets are $65 each and that includes dinner and drinks. The doors open at 5:30 p.m.
“We are encouraging everyone to find THAT special dress (or suit for the guys) and come ready to ‘strike a pose,” Harley said.
Dinner starts at 7:00 p.m. with chicken marsala and sweet bourbon salmon in the spotlight. There will also be an open bar complete with a surprise signature drink, and a cookie “walk of fame” featuring delicious confections from some of Stark County’s finest bakers. The main event—the LIVE AUCTION—will take center stage at approximately 8:30 p.m. with seasoned auctioneer Rodney Dimmerling of Dimmerling Realty & Auctioneers.
Items for the silent and live auctions represent a wide variety of interests: a football signed by The Ohio State University’s 2014 National Football Championship coach Urban Meyer, a Goodyear Blimp ride, CAVS tickets, golf, outdoor entertaining, a trip OUT of the cold Ohio winter, culture, gift certificates to many Stark County restaurants and jewelry from Gasser’s. “That,” Harley said, “is just a brief overview of the items that will be available.”
Funds raised at this event support The Junior League of Stark County’s community work, involvement, and partnerships with organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club of Massillon, Habitat for Humanity, YWCA, Solid Rock Therapeutic Riding Center, Stark County Hunger Task Force, Pathway Caring for Children and the Pregnancy Support Center.
A Red Carpet Gala celebration is open to the public and will be attended by Junior League members as well as other prominent community members.
