Looking for a libation and light Asian fare?
The Barrel Room might be able to simplify your search.
As part of its new Food Truck Thursdays initiative, the Barrel Room will feature Sushi on the Roll June 13, which specializes in traditional, specialty and fusion sushi, ranging from $6-$16.
"Sushi on the Roll is theΒ only license sushi food truck in the Midwest, literally bringing the kitchen of our Medina-based restaurant (which bears the same name)Β on the road," said food truck co-owner Margaret Slesnick.Β
To mix it up a bit, the food truck features "sushi ritos," which are basically burrito shells stuffed with gourmet sushi ingredients, said Slesnick.Β
"Business has been phenomenal," said Barrel Room owner Adam Todd in a June 6 interview with Patch.Β "We've been blessed with so many customers, but they're one request is for a food menu. Now we can bring in gourmet food without being a restaurant."
The initiative's opening week went well, according to the bar's general manager Stephanie Penson. "50 to 60 customers came out (on June 6) ...Β and probably 90 percent of them purchased food from the truck."
As of now, Food Truck Thursdays is set only to run through June, but the trucks may keep coming well into the summer if customers show enough interest, said Todd.Β
Sushi on the RollΒ will open in the Barrel Room's parking lot at about 5:30 p.m.Β and will close around 9 p.m.
