📰 News we're reading

• Indiana Flock camera vandalism prompts thousands of Facebook comments (21alivenews.com) — Oregon Police say two Flock license plate reader cameras on Starr Avenue were cut down, spray‑painted, and had their wiring severed, echoing similar vandalism in Toledo and across the state line in Indiana. Local officials warn suspects could face fifth‑degree felony charges and stress that damaging the cameras delays investigations that rely on them as a key crime‑solving tool.

• Oregon council to consider stop signs along Easthampton to improve safety (toledoblade.com subscription) — Oregon officials are weighing a proposal to replace yield signs with stop signs at five Easthampton Drive intersections to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, and kids heading to Starr Elementary. A city review found limited visibility, crash history, and heavy neighborhood use along this key route between Seaman and Starr. Council will consider the changes Monday, while a separate roundabout study at several Wynn Road intersections is on hold.

• Plant swap stands take root across NW Ohio, SE Michigan (toledoblade.com subscription) — A free plant-swap stand on Lawson Street in Oregon is giving local residents an easy way to trade houseplants and gardening supplies without spending money. Organizer Hayleigh Garcia and other northwest Ohio plant lovers use Facebook, including the Oregon Community Neighbors group, to share hours and encourage neighbors to drop off or pick up plants and related items. The growing swap network connects Oregon with stands in East Toledo, Temperance, and the Lucas County Fairgrounds exchange.
