• Boo! -- Young Professionals of Parma presents fourth annual Spooky Showdown (cleveland.com) — Parma residents can sign up now for the Young Professionals of Parma's free Spooky Showdown house-decorating contest, with entries due Oct. 16 and finalist bus tours on Oct. 22. Working with We Are Parma Proud and the city, organizers will reward standout Halloween displays, including extra points for bicentennial-themed Parma pride touches like flamingos, pierogies, and local landmarks.
   

• Choosing life: Seneca Bankston's story of suicide, faith and hope (thelandcle.org) — A recent suicide-awareness event at the Cuyahoga County Public Library's Parma-Snow Branch spotlighted the life and struggles of local artist and educator Seneca Bankston. His widow, Iteisha, is using a new documentary and the LionHeart Kids Initiative to encourage open conversations about mental health, especially among Black men, and to remind Parma residents that free counseling and crisis help are available through 988 and local programs.
