100 Years in 100 Days: Paul Newman as a Child Actor

Shaker Heights Patch is celebrating the 100 years of Shaker Heights history by creating an online scrapbook. Each day for 100 days, we'll feature a photograph that helps tell the story of Shaker Heights.

Today's photo features the late Paul Newman, one of Shaker Heights' most famous citizens, in the 1936 production of "St. George and the Dragon." The play was put on by the Cleveland Play House Children's Theater. This photo was taken only three years after the theater was established. Newman went on to become a renowned actor, director, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He died in 2008.
