Shaker Heights Patch is celebrating the 100 years of Shaker Heights history by creating an online scrapbook. Each day for 100 days, we'll feature a photograph that helps tell the story of Shaker Heights.
Plymouth Church was the first church built in the Van Sweringen development. The congregation came to the village in 1916. The first services were held in a chapel moved from Lakewood, but later services were conducted in Woodbury School. In 1919, construction began on the present edifice. The building was dedicated in March 1923.
