18 Cars Stolen In Shaker Heights So Far In 2017
Police are asking residents to lock their cars and keep car keys in their possession.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Police are reminding residents to lock their cars at all times, after a series of car thefts have plagued the city. The department said there have already been 18 cars stolen in Shaker Heights in 2017.
Of the 18 stolen cars, 16 were left unlocked by their owner. Thirteen of the cars were left unlocked with the keys inside.
Unlocked cars have also been targets for theft by opportunistic prowlers. Throughout the year residents have had cash, loose change and personal items removed from their vehicles. In a Facebook post, Shaker Heights Police said residents should, "Lock it, light it, trim it! Be smart. Be safe. Be happy!"
