4 Arrested for Fire Set at Lomond Elementary School

Shaker Heights Police announced the arrests via Facebook, after previously asking the community for help identifying the suspects.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - Police have arrested four people in connection to the Dec. 1 fire set in the dumpster behind Lomond Elementary School. The incident was caught on camera and police recently shared the images of the incident with the public.

Police announced the arrests via their Facebook, saying they had taken two adults and two juveniles into custody. The statement says that all four of those arrested admitted to being involved in the blaze and they now await formal charges from the local prosecutor and the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

Commander John Cole of Shaker Heights Police told Patch on Dec. 7 that officers did not yet know what the group was burning in the dumpster. He said there was a similar dumpster fire, some time ago, at another one of Shaker's schools, but there was no initial evidence of a connection. Cole did not immediately return a request for comment, but we will update this story when he does.
