All People's Trail Closed At Shaker Lakes
The beloved trail will be closed from April through fall 2019 for construction upgrades.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH β The All People's Trail at Shaker Lakes will be reconstructed during a multi-year upgrade of the park's Nature Center. The trail will be closed until fall 2019.
The beloved trail is a .3 mile elevated boardwalk that stretches across marshland and other native habitats, including the Doan Brook, a floodplain forest, and parts of the Lower Shaker Lake. The trail offers unique access to people of all ages and abilities and is one of the region's most important spots for bird watchers.
Nearly 80 percent of the funds for the trail's reconstruction have been raised by the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes. The renovation of the trail is part of a multi-phase capital improvement project to renovate the entire Nature Center. The reconstruction of the APT will cost $2.5 million, according to the Nature Center.

βThis campaign is not just about renovating aging infrastructure; it is about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages and from across the region to experience, and learn about and be inspired by our natural world.β said Nature Center President and CEO Kay Carlson βThe new All Peopleβs Trail will be built to last 50-100 years, so we are making a significant investment in our community. This campaign and associated enhancements are our opportunity to create a lasting legacy for both current and future generations to enjoy.β
Besides the renovation of the APT, the capital improvements project will improve ADA accessibility and restore native habitats. Construction will be spaced out along multiple years, allowing education programming to continue at the park.
