Armed Men Try Carjacking In Shaker Heights
Police said they have fingerprints of some of the suspects and are continuing to investigate the incident.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Three men tried to steal a Shaker Heights resident's car using a handgun, police told Patch. The trio flashed the weapon, but ran off when the resident jumped back into their car instead of handing over the keys.
The almost-robbery happened at about 6:50 p.m. on August 25. The resident was getting out of his 2014 Acura at the BP Gas Station on Larchmere Boulevard when three men approached him.
One of the suspects flashed a handgun, but the resident jumped back into his car and the suspects took off running. They didn't get the car and no one was hurt, police said.

Investigators were able to get some fingerprints of the suspects, but the robbery attempt happened out-of-sight of the gas station's surveillance cameras, a Shaker Heights officer told Patch. The would-be robbers have not yet been identified.
