Ashby Road Home Burgled Over Weekend In Shaker Heights

Since late December, there have been at least five break-ins at area homes, according to police records.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — An Ashby Road home was broken into over the weekend. The unidentified burglar got into the house and stole equipment, police said. This is at least the fifth home since late December to be broken into in Shaker Heights.

Two homes were burgled on New Year's Eve, according to police reports. In both instances, a suspect got into the house and stole personal property. Those burglaries took place on Van Aken Boulevard and East Byron Road.

Then, on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18, homes on Canterbury Lane and Chadbourne Road were burgled. The home on Chadbourne was unlocked when the suspect got into the house.

Possession of Stolen Property, Jan. 22 — A 47-year-old Cleveland man was arrested by Shaker Heights Police on Monday after he was found with property from a home that had been burgled. The suspect was arrested on Huntington Road at 12:04 p.m., police said.

Theft from Motor Vehicle, Jan. 25 — Someone stole a resident's temporary license plate off of their car on Thursday. The plate had been fastened to the exterior of the vehicle. The car was parked in the 16000 block of Scottsdale Boulevard.

Possession of Stolen Goods, Jan. 25 — A 37-year-old Cleveland man was arrested for shoplifting from the BP/7-Eleven on Chagrin Boulevard.

Burglary, Jan. 26 — An unidentified suspect broke into a home in the 3000 block of Ashby Road. The owner of the home reported that some equipment was missing from the residence.

Shoplifting, Jan. 28 — A Heinen's grocery store employee reported that a man stole food from the business on Sunday.

Shoplifting, Jan. 28 — Grooming supplies were stolen from Rite Aid on Sunday, the store manager reported.
