Bicycle Thefts Plague Shaker Heights

Locked to racks, stored in garages, left in storage facilities — regardless of how they're left, bikes across the city are being snatched.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Bicycles have been the target of recent thefts throughout Shaker Heights. Police have recorded the theft of seven bicycles over the past five days. Read on for more information on each of the bike thefts.

Theft from Vehicle, July 17 — Police were called to the 3000 block of Chadbourne Rd. on Monday morning. A resident there reported that an unknown suspect went into their car and stole loose change at some point during the night.

Theft, July 17 — A resident had a nasty surprise waiting for them when they returned from vacation on Monday. They came back to their home in the 12000 block of Fairhill Rd. and found someone had stolen two bicycles from their locked storage facility.

Theft, July 17 — Someone stole a bicycle off the rack located at Shaker Heights High School on Monday. Police say the bicycle was locked to the rack.

Theft, July 17 — A 14-year-old Cleveland resident reported the theft of their bicycle, which was locked to the rack at Shaker Heights High School.

Theft, July 19 — A bicycle was stolen from an unattached garage on Lomond Blvd. The resident reported that someone damaged the window in the garage before taking the bike.

Theft, July 19 — Someone stole a bicycle and bike helmet from an unlocked garage on Grenway Rd.
