Body Found In Green Lake By Shaker Heights Police

Officers tracked snowprints onto the lake, where there was a hole in the ice. A body was then fished out of the water.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Shaker Heights police have discovered a body on Green Lake, the department confirmed on Monday evening. Officers were tracking a suspected car thief when they found a hole in a layer of ice on the body of water. A body was fished out soon after.

At 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning, a resident on Chagrin Boulevard called police and said someone had left a car in their driveway. The vehicle turned out to be stolen from another resident in Shaker.

Foot prints in the snow went north away from the car. Officers followed the tracks to Green Lake where they found a hole in the ice. At about 2:30 p.m. emergency personnel pulled a body out of the pond.

Police say there was also reports of a stolen car found in the 17000 block of Scottsdale Boulevard. That vehicle had been stolen from the city of Cleveland. Officers investigated that vehicle and also found footprints that appeared similar to shoe found at the scene of the Chagrin Boulevard vehicle.

A spokesperson for Shaker Heights Police said the investigation is ongoing.
