Burglars Take Advantage Of Unlocked Homes, Garages In Shaker

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Thieves and burglars were able to get into unlocked homes and garages throughout the city over the weekend. Lawn mowers, bicycles, trimmers and other property were stolen, according to Shaker Heights Police records.

The first theft happened Friday night, when a Pennington Road resident discovered that their lawn mower and lawn trimmer had been taken from their garage. Police said the garage had been left unlocked. The theft was discovered at about 6:30 p.m.

Then, on Saturday, there were two burglaries in the span of about six hours. The first burglary happened on Warrensville Center Road, at about 12:15 p.m. Someone got into a multi-resident garage and stole a resident's mountain bicycle.

At 5:50 p.m., a resident on Van Aken Boulevard reported that someone got into their unlocked home and stole personal property.
