Coroanvirus Update: Food Drive Planned In Shaker Heights

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The Shaker Heights community is planning a food drive for Thursday, April 9. Distribution of the collected food will take place April 15.

The food drive will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at two churches in Shaker Heights. Residents should donate non-perishable food, hygiene items, gift cards to Heinen's, Dave's Supermarkets and Giant Eagle or cash to buy more gift cards and essential items.

Donations should be taken one of these two churches:

• Heights Christian Church, 17300 Van Aken Boulevard
• Drop off will take place at the circular drive off Winslow Road
• Christ Episcopal Church, 3445 Warrensville Center Road
• Parking will be in the Medical Building parking lot, with drop off at church side door

Volunteers at both sites will collect the food from cars and take it into the churches. Volunteers will wear gloves and masks during the food drive.

Distribution of the collected food will take place at Heights Christian Church on Wednesday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Future food distribution will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays during the first and second weeks of the month. Shaker Food Pantry distributes food during weeks three and four of the month.
