Distressed Man In Front Of Mercer Elementary Aided By Police

Shaker Heights police helped a man secure transportation to a local medical facility after he reported being in "distress."

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Police were called to Mercer Elementary School on Monday for reports of a distressed man. The man reached out to South Euclid Police about his situation. South Euclid Police then contacted Shaker Heights officers who responded to the scene.

A spokesperson for Shaker Heights Police was quiet on the details of the incident, saying on that the man was assisted by officers in getting transportation to a medical facility. Several police departments were involved in the incident, according to Shaker Police's Facebook page.

The Shaker Heights Schools issued a statement on Facebook about the incident, saying only, "A police incident this afternoon near Mercer Elementary School has been resolved. A male in distress was taken into custody and transported to a hospital to obtain the care needed."

The spokesperson for Shaker Heights Police said South Euclid handled follow-up with the distressed man. The public information officer for South Euclid was not available at the time of publication for comment. Patch will update this story when and if he provides comment.
