Donate Blood At These Upcoming Drives Near Shaker Heights
More than 116,000 Americans are hurt in winter car accidents each year. Some of those people will need blood.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The winter season can be an especially desperate one for people in need of blood. More than 116,000 Americans are involved in car accidents in the winter annually. Many of those people will need blood donations.
Here are some upcoming blood drives that will be taking place in the area.
- Jan. 10 at Hathaway Brown School from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Jan. 10 at Mayfield Village Civic Center from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Jan. 12 at Case Western Reserve Medical School from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Jan. 18 at Mayfield Branch Library from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Jan. 19 at Hillcrest Hospital from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Jan. 22 at Beachwood High School from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Jan. 23 at University Hospitals Rainbows Area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One person involved in a car accident can need as much as 100 pints of blood, the American Red Cross says. Less than 10 percent of eligible donors donate blood each year in America.
