Meet Shaker Heights resident and foster care advocate LaTasha C. Watts, author of the memoir I'm Not Broken, Just a Little Twisted and its forthcoming sequel Aging Out of My Mind.
LaTasha spent her entire childhood in the foster care system before she aged out at age 18. She overcame a series of obstacles including homelessness, single motherhood, and cancer, all by the age of 23. Her inspiring memoir illustrates the difficulties children face in foster care and beyond.
She now devotes herself through advocacy to improve the lives of children in the foster care system. She is also the founder and executive director of The Purple Project, which supports and provides resources for children as they age out of foster care and transition to adult life.
