SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Former Shaker Heights High School teacher Timothy Mitchell, 59, has pleaded guilty to endangering children, a charge coming from an incident 22 years ago when Mitchell had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student, cleveland.com reports.
Mitchell was indicted on April 25, 2017 by a Cuyahoga County grand jury, Fox 8 reported at the time. The station reports that on June 7, 1995 Mitchell allegedly took the 16-year-old to a baseball game where he bought her beer, smoked marijuana with her, and then had sex near the Cleveland Museum of Art.
The Shaker Heights School District said it has no comment on Mitchell pleading guilty. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Shaker Heights newsletter. As news breaks and the story develops, you will be the first to receive updates from Patch.)

Mitchell was a popular history teacher at the high school. He was even profiled in May 2016 article of the Plain Dealer.
However, when the school district first learned about the accusations facing Mitchell in February 2017, the teacher was placed on administrative leave. The school system also brought in psychologists, nurses and counselors to speak with students as-needed.
