Kate Connors was a summer 2014 collections intern at the Shaker Historical Society. She is currently an undergraduate student at the College of William and Mary, where she has studied early American history with the National Institute of American History and Democracy. Growing up in Shaker Heights, Kate fostered an early appreciation for the past by memorizing revolutionary war information in first grade. It is fitting, therefore, that Kate attends college in a town whose main attraction is a living history museum. When not taking in the colonial sights, Kate spends her time on the water with the Tribe sailing team, in the library, or drinking coffee (on the way to the library).
Her close inspection of the SHS’s entire textile collection gives her a unique perspective from which to speak about it in its entirety. Learn from her observations and many other textiles that remain inside the closet!
