Free Rain Barrels Available In Shaker Heights

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Residents in Shaker Heights are eligible to receive free rain barrels as part of a conservancy regimen. The Sustainable Cleveland program, along with a handful of community partners, are working together to bring Northeast Ohio residents, who are part of Cleveland Water and the Northeast Ohio Sewer District (NEORSD), are eligible to receive free rain barrels.

The program is designed to help reduce storm runoff and keep pressure off the region's sewer system. NEORSD, CDW, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, Mayor Frank Jackson's Summer Youth Employment Program, are working together to assemble and distribute the barrels free of charge.

The City of Cleveland will host a series of rain barrel workshops throughout the region.

To get the rain barrel, residents will need to complete paperwork and agree to terms and conditions of program. All registration can be completed online. Residents will also need to contact the Buckeye Area Development Corporation, 216-491-8450 or the Shaker Square Area Development Corporation at 216-421-2100.
