Juvenile Detained For Stealing From Unlocked Cars In Shaker Heights

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Police dealt with a string of robberies and burglaries in the city over the past weekend. A resident told police that a suspect with a handgun stole money and personal property from him while he was in the 13000 block of South Park Boulevard.

Police also detained a 14-year-old for stealing property from an unlocked vehicle on Van Aken Boulevard. Read on for more information on that incident and others from the weekend. Robbery, Sept. 1 — A resident in the 13000 block of South Park Blvd. told police that he was robbed by an unidentified suspect. The suspect had a handgun and stole money and personal property from the resident.

Burglary, Sept. 2 — Someone broke into a home in the 3000 block of Ludgate Road. No property has been reported as stolen and no injuries were reported. However, the house was damaged by the burglar.

Burglary, Sept. 2 — Electronics were stolen from an unlocked home in the 3000 block of Ludgate Rd.

Burglary, Sept. 3 — Personal property was taken from an unlocked home in the 20000 block of Calverton Rd. The resident reported the theft at about 9 a.m.

Theft, Sept. 3 — Someone stole a resident's bicycle while it was parked in the playground area at Shaker Public Library, 16500 Van Aken Blvd. The bicycle was left unlocked, police said.

Theft from Motor Vehicles, Sept. 3 — Police busted a suspect believed to have been stealing property from unlocked cars in the 16000 block of Van Aken Blvd. The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, had been seen stealing personal property from an unlocked car. The suspect was detained at about 11 p.m.
