
The Shaker Historical Society announces a Members Only Tour of Lake View Cemetery on Monday, October 19th at 2pm. This will be a guided walking tour of the historic cemetery. We will take in the sights of the Garfield Memorial, Wade Chapel and Rockefeller Monument. Other important sites we will visit will be the resting place of the Van Sweringen brothers who developed Shaker Heights.
This tour is free for current members of the Shaker Historical Society. Those interested in becoming a member may call Ruth at 216-921-1201 to join!

Lake View Cemetery, founded in 1869, has 285 acres rich in history and landmarks. Notable persons buried at The Lake View Cemetery include: billionaire industrialist, John D. Rockefeller and his wife, Laura Spelman Rockefeller; inventor, Garrett A. Morgan; Cleveland Orchestra founder, Adella Prentiss Hughes, and Orchestra benefactor, John L. Severance; social worker, Jane Edna Hunter; law-man, Eliot Ness; and United States President, James A. Garfield.
