Lance Mason Indicted For Murder Of Aisha Fraser

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Former judge Lance Mason has been indicted for the aggravated murder of his ex-wife Aisha Fraser, a teacher in the Shaker Heights Schools.

“Aisha Fraser was viciously and cruelly taken from her children by Lance Mason’s cowardly and selfish act,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “He stole a loving mother from her children and took an exceptional teacher, neighbor, and role model from the Shaker Heights community. He will be held accountable for his barbaric act.”

The six charges brought against Mason were announced Thursday afternoon by O'Malley. He is accused of aggravated murder, murder, two counts of felonious assault, grand theft auto, and violation of a protection order. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison, without the possibility of parole.

Mason is accused of stabbing Fraser to death when she arrived at a home on Chagrin Boulevard. Fraser's children, ages 8 and 11, were in the car, the prosecutor said.

Shaker Heights Police were called to the home and rushed to the scene. Officers set up a perimeter around the house.

Mason allegedly stole Fraser's car and tried to flee the scene, hitting a Shaker Heights police cruiser, injuring the legs of Officer Adam Flynt, the prosecutor said. Mason then took off running before officers tracked him down and arrested, O'Malley said.

The evidence against Mason was presented Thursday to a Grand Jury, which then returned the indictment against the former judge.
